It's Memorial Day already. The beginning of Summer for many people. Many of the outdoor public pools don't open until after today, which is a shame because it's been more than warm enough on many days.
We've had a wet spring. My lawn spring up overnight. I'm going to have to use a weed whacker just to get it to where I can use the lawn mower on some parts of it. The lilacs have bloomed and gone. It's been too cold for my rose bushes to bloom yet. And with the rain, I've had trouble getting out there -- I went out Saturday and had to pull bindweed away from half the bushes. I'm pretty sure I saved them.
How much can go wild if we ignore it just for a few weeks. My foot was in that boot for 4 weeks and the yard went insane. It reminds me that I mustn't neglect other things, lest they go wild as well.
Hearthstone meets the Friday before or the Friday of the Full Moon at the First
Unitarian Church at 14th and Lafayette in Denver. The church doors open at 7,
and we like to start at 7:30. (We are NOT big proponents of Pagan Standard Time,
but if there is weather related driving trouble or a problem on the freeway,
we've been known to wait a bit longer.) This month's ritual is FRIDAY, JUNE
Remember, please, that Hearthstone doesn’t expect everyone to enter in Perfect Love and Perfect Trust, as there are people you don't know there, but to enter with a willing heart and an open mind, and leave your differences at the door.
Some traditions are more controversial than others, or may contain a component that disturbs someone attending an Open Full Moon. It is one of the risks of exploring different traditions. Should anyone be uncomfortable, unsettled, or upset about any ritual presented by Hearthstone, please contact Alia to discuss -- and hopefully resolve and heal -- the issue.
The June 1 ritual will be led by Kath. Kath and several co-priestesses are leading a ritual intended to help us expand our hearts to foster and support our ability to stand in Love and Compassion. We are working in the Feri Tradition of Witchcraft. Please come prepared to co-create our commmunity ritual joining our hands, lifting our voices and dancing as we imagin our lives, our community, and our world filling with Peace and Love.
Parking has become more difficult at the church. Please read the parking suggestions provided by theFirst Unitarian Church. Thank you. Alia
Thanks and a Tip of the Hat to Priestess Leni, who in April presented a fun and interesting ritual exploring Money. She helped us explore the psychological, practical, and mystical aspects of money, and how it represents our labor, desires, energy, our ability to care for our loved ones, and may other meanings. We held dollar bills in our hands, and contemplated how the forms of money have changed over time, now becoming more digital, less tactile. In celebration of the fertility of Spring, each of us placed bills into a basket with rabbit figurines, then we chanted and did the Bunny Hop around the circle while sending reproductive energy to charge the contents of the basket. We raised energy with the purpose of raining love, positive wealth, and abundance on everyone. At the end of the ritual we each took a hyper-fertile dollar bill back into our wallets, with the intent that it will further reproduce positive abundance with every bill it comes into contact with, so that all may experience joyful abundance. Thank you, Leni, for a ritual that so successfully combined fun and meaning!
I've recovered from the shock of my cancer diagnosis, and from the mastectomy surgery that followed. While I still tire easily, it's time for me to get back out into society and become a contributing member of that society again. I'll see those of you that can make it at the June 1st Open Full Moon, and I am back to mostly normal, missing only one organ, and that one has a duplicate. I'm looking forward to talking to people again -- healing is rather boring work.
We appreciate that many of you donate to the church. With your contributions, we have reached the point where the church is preparing to set policies for assisting those in need. The more you can spare, the more we can help those who need it.
We aren’t going to start collecting at the door, and no one will be turned away for not having a donation. However, we would like to suggest a donation of 4 to 7 dollars per person. (The extra is to cover the pagans that are unable to donate.) If you can’t afford it, you are still welcome – if you can afford more, we’d be delighted to accept it.
NOTE: Hearthstone is a church and your donations to Hearthstone are tax deductible. If you would like to write a check so you can keep track of your donations, we can certainly handle that as well.

Several of our dates are a week early this year, in an effort to separate
them somewhat from Sabbats very close to the date. This allows for Hearthstone
to focus on Full Moon celebrations and allow other groups to focus on the
Sabbats, whether that be public groups or closed circles.
