Due to the illness of the editor (Catherine) and the multiple snowstorms, etc., we have not been able to get a snail mail edition of the newsletter out this month. Please let those people who do not have e-mail know about the upcoming OFM. Thanks
The Western New Year has come and gone. We've had two blizzards and a cold snap; and as I'm writing this, we're having yet another snow storm the forth in 5 weeks. Apparently, someone got Colorado weather and Boston weather confused this year. I do hope we get the confusion sorted out soon.
Because of being forced to stay inside for extended periods, I've managed to catch one of those bugs that have been "going around." I do expect to be over it by Friday, but in the mean time, I'm pretty miserable.
A dear friend of mine makes a point of finding at least one beautiful thing each day especially during the winter months. Maybe when we're feeling miserable, either because of having to stay inside, or having a cold, or any other number of reasons, if we force ourselves to find some small thing of beauty, it will help to alleviate that feeling. Anyway, I hope so.
Hearthstone meets the Friday before or the Friday of the Full Moon at the
First Unitarian Church at 14th and Lafayette in Denver. The church doors open
at 7, and we like to start at 7:30. (We are NOT big proponents of Pagan Standard
Time, but if there is weather related driving trouble or a problem on the freeway,
we've been known to wait a bit longer.) This month's ritual is FRIDAY, JANUARY
Remember, please, that Hearthstone doesn’t expect everyone to enter in Perfect Love and Perfect Trust, as there are people you don't know there, but to enter with a willing heart and an open mind, and leave your differences at the door.
Some traditions are more controversial than others, or may contain a component that disturbs someone attending an Open Full Moon. It is one of the risks of exploring different traditions. Should anyone be uncomfortable, unsettled, or upset about any ritual presented by Hearthstone, please contact Alia to discuss -- and hopefully resolve and heal -- the issue.
The January 26th ritual will be a true Wing-It ritual. Come ready to help, and if you have ideas to share, bring them as well. We still have quite a few open months for the year -- we'd like to invite you to volunteer to officiate to have more variety than a string of Wing-It rituals can provide.
Parking has become more difficult at the church. Please read the parking suggestions provided by theFirst Unitarian Church. Thank you. Alia
Thanks and a Tip of the Hat to Amy, who guided a group of wonderful children
in offering Hearthstone's Dec. Open Full Moon. Children invoked the elements,
cast the Circle, and welcomed the Goddess and God. In the theme of appreciating
the Great Earth Mother, Amy shared a beautiful essay about the many gifts given
by the Divine Mother to each child born. With a circle dance and the chant "We
All Come From The Goddess", all participants raised energy to form an energy
ball in the center, and released the energy to sink into Mother Earth to nourish
Her, with gratitude to Her for nourishing us. Thank you, children, for sharing
your emerging skills with all of us! Thank you, Amy, for teaching and guiding
our next generation. And thank you, Hearthstone community, for participating
in rituals such as these
in which we welcome, support, and enjoy our community's children.
We appreciate that many of you donate to the church. With your contributions, we have reached the point where the church is preparing to set policies for assisting those in need. The more you can spare, the more we can help those who need it.
We aren’t going to start collecting at the door, and no one will be turned away for not having a donation. However, we would like to suggest a donation of 4 to 7 dollars per person. (The extra is to cover the pagans that are unable to donate.) If you can’t afford it, you are still welcome – if you can afford more, we’d be delighted to accept it.
NOTE: Hearthstone is a church and your donations to Hearthstone are tax deductible. If you would like to write a check so you can keep track of your donations, we can certainly handle that as well.

Reclaiming Magical Education
Sharpen your magical skills in the New Year.
Elements of Magic
FEBRUARY 2, 3, & 4, 2007
Elements of Magic is the first of the core class in the Reclaiming tradition of Witchcraft. In this class, we will explore our personal relationship with the elements of Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Spirit.
Techniques that we will use include breathwork, song, visualization, sensing
and raising energy, trance work, movement, spellcrafting and creating sacred
Reclaiming is a community of individuals working to unify spirit and politics. Our vision is rooted in the religion and magic of the Goddess, the Immanent Life Force. We see our work as teaching and making magic; the art of empowering our selves and each other. This class is open to women and men.
Skathach is a Reclaiming witch cleverly disguised as suburban mother of two. She is a priestess dedicated to the Goddess for more than ten years. She facilitates a Children's Circle and teaches classes on Tarot and Wicca. She's been known to sing out loudly in ritual.
Bill is a Wiccan (Old English for male witch) who has been on this path successfully practicing witchcraft for the past 4 years and he has initiated as a solitaire through a local coven. His practice and teaching is characterized by dedication, initiative and uncompromising professionalism.
Amelia has spent the last ten years learning about the Earth paths from a variety of sources and teachers. While her first love is Tarot, she's planning her first garden in the spring, and is fascinated with compost.
Aramme is an eclectic Wiccan whose heart is enchanted by Reclaiming and Celtic traditions. She can be found practicing the art of kitchen witchery aided by magick and herbs.

Several of our dates are a week early this year, in an effort to separate
them somewhat from Sabbats very close to the date. This allows for Hearthstone
to focus on Full Moon celebrations and allow other groups to focus on the
Sabbats, whether that be public groups or closed circles.
